4th SPP Colloquium in Bad Aibling, 04-06 June 2019

The 4th SPP colloquium took place from June 4-6, 2019 in Bad Aibling near Munich. The focus topic was "Data assimilation in Geosciences" and the colloquium waslocally organized with Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. A couple of oral presentations and an extended poster session completed an inspiring and productive meeting. The highlight of the colloquium were 3 keynote lectures about data assimilation theory and practical applications on geoscientific data by the following keynote speakers:

Lars Nerger, Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Research, Bremerhaven, Germany: "Ensemble Data Assimilation - Methods, Applications, and Software". This introduction was followed by a hands-on tutorial for all attendees.

Sabrina Sanchez, Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research, Göttingen, Germany: "Geomagnetic data assimilation: Perspectives for probing the Earth's core dynamics"

Tomoko Matsuo, Dept. of Aerospace Engineering Sciences/University of Colorado, USA: "Coupled Thermosphere - Ionosphere Data Assimilation"
